This is the first book I’ve read by author, Liz Galvano. It is a beautifully written historical romance by this author. I loved the setting in Messina, Italy. This story is a wonderful read filled with historical facts and charmingly written fictional romance and love. My favorite characters are Giovanni and Lucia, of course. Both of these characters are doctors and yet very different temperaments. Dr. Giovanni was an Italian man of great medical knowledge, yet his faith in God had been tested and Giovanni had been found wanting as he chose to not trust God. Can he change his way and see how big God really is especially in working side by side with Dr. Lucia? Dr. Lucia was a cutting edge American doctor for the early 1900’s, working in Italy when tragedy struck. She had a faith so big that all who came in contact with her could not help be blessed by her. She did have a strong will and was very vocal in her thoughts. As an American, she was challenged by the Italian’s old way of life and how women were looked upon. Can she give in to some of the old ways and let people see God through her loving these wounded people, both emotionally and physically? I was thrilled to read this book as it had so much in it that worked the emotions, both laughing with the characters to crying as tragedy was great within its pages. A delightful read! I would definitely read another book by this author! I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.
